At Memorial Dance Center we understand that some dancers love to dance and perform as a hobby, and others want to dance as a career.  We strive to provide a welcoming environment where young dancers can explore their interest in the art of dance.  For those dancers that are looking to dance year round, be both physically and artistically challenged, and perform more often, we offer our Competitive Company.

The Competitive Company currently consists of the following teams:

Performance Teams

Performance Teams are designed for dancers looking to begin to train more and perform more often. Performance Teams attend 1 local convention/competition event, two local competitions, and perform at our annual recital every spring.  Dancers dance between 4 and 6 hours a week, and typically compete three to four pieces during the competition season.

Elite Teams

Elite Teams consist of experienced, well-rounded.  They will attend a minimum of two local convention/competitions, three local competitions, and perform at our annual recital every spring.  They may also be asked to perform at other local events.  Elite Team dancers take a minimum of 7 hours per week, are required to attend all master classes held at Memorial Dance, and will compete between 4 to 6 group dances during competition. These dances range in style from jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and musical theater.

All company placements are determined after the audition by the MDC staff and are based on level of interest, age, technical ability, work ethic, and attitude.  It is an honor to be offered a spot on any team.  Being a member of the MDC company is a year long commitment from both the parents and the student.
