Baylor Dance Company

“My time at Memorial Dance Center helped create a love for dance that I am so excited to be able to continue pursuing in college. In auditioning for the Baylor Dance Company, I was not only equipped with the technique and skills needed for the team, but also a self-confidence that I can only attribute to the constant encouragement and support from my teachers and teammates at MDC. Being able to have the opportunity to train with various choreographers and in all styles of dance, has helped me to be able to be well-rounded and adapt quickly as a dancer. I am so grateful for the loving community at MDC as it has shaped me into the dancer and person I am today.”

“I came to Memorial Dance Center the first year they opened with no dance experience. I tried out for company as a hobby, but didn’t realize how it would change my life. MDC was a place for me to grow not only as a dancer, but as a person. When days weren’t going well, MDC allowed me to leave everything at the door and do what I love to do. Memorial Dance Center trains in all styles. Being introduced to so many choreographers and teachers helped me to adapt quickly and become a well-rounded dancer. Today I am living my dream of dancing in college, and I couldn’t have done it without all my teachers pushing me and never giving up on me.”

Modern Dance Performance Major
University of Oklahoma

“I danced at Memorial Dance Center for seven years, and within those years met lifelong friends, made so many memories, and grew as a dancer and a person. During my time at MDC, I attended HSPVA, and I am currently a Modern Dance Major at the University of Oklahoma. Both experiences have been amazing, but they could not have been possible without the training and fundamental technique that I gained from dancing on company at Memorial Dance Center. Not only did the faculty help me become the dancer I am today, they also invested their energy into making sure that I learned valuable skills such as teamwork, dedication, and discipline. One of the most special things about dancing at MDC is the feeling of family and the incredible environment that is created through the faculty’s positivity and encouragement. I can say for certain that I would not be where I am today in dance if it wasn’t for my time at MDC, and I am so grateful to the faculty who believed and supported me along the way!”

“During my fifteen years of dancing at Memorial Dance Center, the studio truly became my family. I was challenged yet supported by the teachers and staff that poured into growing not only my dance technique but also my personal character. I was encouraged by my teammates and created lifelong friends that continue to love me through every season. I was trained in all styles of dance through taking classes and competing across the nation. I was taught confidence, discipline, courage, work-ethic, and integrity. Because of my MDC family, I am fulfilling my passions through continuing to compete as a member of TCU Elite Dance and the Dupree Dance Collective!”

“My experience at Memorial Dance Center shaped me into a confident, well-rounded dancer. Without their consistent support and overall encouragement I would not be where I am today, a third year member and current captain of the University of Houston Cougar Dolls Dance Team. Throughout my time dancing as a Cougar Doll I have also chosen to go on tour as a Big 3 dancer for Ice Cube’s basketball tournament, allowing me to travel across the country while doing what I love! My teachers at MDC gave me the motivation to want to be the best and provided me with the foundation to reach my full potential.”

“Dancing on a Collegiate team has always been a dream of mine, and I can honestly say I would not have been able to achieve this dream without Memorial Dance Center. Memorial Dance not only provided me with the technique and skills needed for a collegiate dance team, but instilled a confidence in myself that I would not have found elsewhere. They provided a loving and encouraging environment that pushed me to grow each and every day. I am so proud to say that I am a Memorial Dance Center Alumni, and I am forever thankful to all the teachers and staff at MDC for helping me get to where I am today.”
